Whether the
participant wants to learn electrocardiography (all levels available
from basic to advanced), or to prepare themselves for ECG Board
Certification Examinations, these online courses were designed to
help you achieve your goals.
Planning a career in cardiac nursing, ECG or monitor technician, or
cath lab staff, we can assist you in learning to read the most
important diagnostic tool in cardiology and assist you in becoming
ECG Board Certified.
And the big plus
with these online courses, you have a live tutor to contact by email
or phone; click here to meet your tutor.
Reading ECG's on a hospital panel, we have an emergency and advanced
reading course online for physicians to refresh their skills and
become ECG Board Certified at this advanced level (some hospitals
require this certification before physicians can read on the ECG
panel).
In addition to the subject of electrocardiography, we are developing
an entire line of CVN training programs to complete the CVN
Fellowship Training Needs.
We currently added four new courses in cardiology:
Heart Sounds and Valvular Disorders, Anatomy of the Heart
and Conduction System, Continuous 12-Lead ECG Monitoring, and
Identification and Management of ACS.

lessons in this 12-Lead Course (only they are called lessons 1-3).
If the student has already completed lessons 10-12 from Basic ECG
and want to review them again, they have the opportunity to do so in
this course. If the student does not need to repeat these
lessons, then begin with lesson 4 below.
The student through the lessons at their own pace over the
year of their membership. Lesson 14 was developed in a
Microsoft Word format and should be printed out for study.

Why use an Outside ECG/CAT?
To provide a
validated independent assessment of your staff's ability to record,
read, and respond to an ECG?
We have found
through a national survey that all hospitals make up their own
competency tests in ECG reading with no standard of practice to
follow. In these "home made" exams, the leads are often not
labeled, and there is only one rhythm strip or point of view per
entity, when more leads are is needed to make many diagnoses, and
they are totally lacking in skills performance testing for patient
ECG monitoring practice, and/or 12-lead applications.
Going up the
ladder a bit to the physicians, most hospitals just accept that a
physician can read an ECG, but in fact when large numbers of them
are tested, about half will be reading at a substandard level.
Yet others require their physician panel readers to be board
certified in ECG to read on the panels. In addition,
emergency physicians are not being made to pass an Emergency level
ECG Board Certification Exam and we are sending about 12% of our
patients home with ACS that was not recognized in our Emergency
departments. This problem could be alleviated by hospitals
insisting on ECG Board Certification for all staff members, not just
a few.
How the ECG/CAT Membership Works
Don't be caught with a
home made ECG assessment test, when you can have an outside testing
source which comes right to your hospital with a validated ECG/CAT.
We set you up for the number of ECG/CATs you need (example: you
purchased 50 seats), issue a username and password, and provide a
year for your staff to access the online ECG/CAT. Because the
ECG/CAT is revised annually, you will need to renew your ECG/CAT
membership each year. The second year you join the ECG/CAT
membership plan, you are eligible for these updates at a fraction of
the original cost.
To order your ECG/CAT for Basic, 12-Lead, Emergency, or Advanced ECG
levels, contact Jonni Cooper, PhD at (813)234-1033 or
jcooper17@tampabay.rr.com,
to help you determine a plan that will work for you at a price you
can afford.
